Keeping Safe
Safeguarding is about prevention of harm and early intervention to minimise the opportunity for people to be harmed.
If you are concerned about the safety and wellbeing of yourself, another person, or a group, we have two Safeguarding Officers who are available to be contacted confidentially in order to discuss your concerns and help provide appropriate direction. Both Safeguarding Officers are medical doctors and are therefore very serious about wellbeing and confidentially. Our Parish Safeguarding Officers are Dr Andrea Caldwell (andrea@stbarnabas.org.nz), and Dr Nigel Yeoh (nigel.yeoh@stbarnabas.org.nz).
The diocese has further safeguarding resources available online at Safeguarding – Anglican Life.
Responding to the release of the report from the Royal Commission Inquiry into Abuse in State and Faith-based Care, this statement by our Archbishops was read at all services on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in the Anglican Church who wish to engage with the Church about that abuse are encouraged to email: contact@anglicanredress.nz
Anyone wishing to make a current complaint can contact the Ministry Standards Commission registrar by email on: registrar@ministrystandards.org
