Children and Families

The St Barnabas Community is passionate about offering midweek and Sunday experiences for children and families to play, learn and wonder about God together.

Kidzone

This is the greatest place for children to be at the 10.00am Lifestreams service in the Hall! It is safe, secure and a great environment for age-appropriate learning!

  • ‘Splash’          4 – 7 year olds
  • ‘Xstream’      8 – 11 year olds

Playgroup

The St Barnabas Play Group is for pre-schoolers and their caregivers and they enjoy Bible stories, craft, singing and play. It takes place every Wednesday during term time from 9.15 – 11.30am in the St Barnabas Hall. The suggested koha is $3 per family. Contact Helen Wakefield on 021307878 for more information.

Mainly Music

Mainly Music is a fun program for parents/primary caregivers and preschoolers (ages 0-5) to enjoy music and movement together. Mainly Music also provides opportunities to nurture the relationship between parent/caregiver and their children, to celebrate the important role of being a parent/caregiver, and to develop friendships with other adults in the same life stage. Mainly Music was founded in 1990 here in New Zealand and is now popular throughout Europe and the US.

Each session includes 30 minutes of music, rhyme, movement, listening and more… finger puppets, balls, parachutes, instruments, etc. After the music portion of the morning, children are given a snack and adults are treated to a special coffee/tea break. Snack time is followed by a short toy time, where the children free play in the same room, allowing the adults to continue to talk with one another. The music session lasts for about half an hour and morning tea and chat about another 30 minutes.

Contact Liz Yeoh by emailing yeoh.n.e@gmail.com if you would like to register your interest in joining this group, Friday mornings in term-time 10am-11am.
