Support in Joy and Sorrow
St Barnabas has touched the lives of many people through Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals – in the beautiful St Barnabas Church and through the people who make up the Church family. The clergy and people of St Barnabas are here to support all people of the community in times of joy and sadness – the Christian faith offers meaning and hope in both fullness and emptiness.
The church is also equipped with an excellent, 3 camera, livestreaming and video recording system. This can be used to record your wedding day for example, or livestream a funeral of your loved one for people overseas or unable to attend. Baptisms
Baptism is about belonging to God’s family and beginning a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. From the earliest days of the Church, infants and young children born into Christian families were also welcomed into the Church through baptism. Jesus himself welcomed little children and blessed them. We would love to meet with you to talk about the baptism of your child. Infant baptisms usually take place on Sunday mornings, at our 930am service in Church, or during our 10am informal Lifestreams service, where lots of children and families will be present to share this special occasion with you. If you are an adult and want to be baptized we would love to meet with you and arrange your baptism with you. Weddings
Getting married in 2024-25? Consider celebrating your special day at St Barnabas! We offer helpful marriage preparation, a beautiful and spiritual atmosphere, a great outdoor space for photo ops and a lovely, well appointed hall for refreshments. We can provide an organist, arrange flowers in the church, and other decorations to make your day memorable. We also run ‘Marriage Preparation’ courses for couples, usually in the winter/spring. For any enquiries just call the Parish Office on 03 351 7064 or complete the contact form below.
Funerals
We would be privileged to support you at the time of death of your loved one. We have a number of experienced priests who are able to guide and support you at your time of loss. St Barnabas is a beautiful funeral venue with screens for a slide show presentation, an excellent organ and organist for sensitive music, and plenty of space for a large group. We also have a dedicated catering team who will be more than happy to provide refreshments in the Hall following the funeral service, with care and sensitivity.
