AAW afternoon tea ‘Mrs Bucket’ style!

On Wednesday the afternoon AAW group held a special function – the brainchild of leader, Shirley-Anne Collins – and were invited to attempt to emulate the amazing Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouquet of course).

Much time was spent in assuring none of us led the side down by turning up in our usual garb and we all looked a most glamorous group – especially Erica Bennett who had shopped at an exclusive boutique known as the Op Shop for her designer clothing.

The meeting opened with the kind of prayer Hyacinth would have used, kindly provided by ChatGPT who seemed to have a close acquaintance with Keeping Up Appearances.

We watched excerpts of the programme, laughing just as heartily as we did when it screened first last century. Shirley-Anne and Diana Hann had carefully censored the extracts so those with more delicate sensibilities were not offended.

The highlight of the afternoon was the sumptuous afternoon tea which everyone tucked into with great gusto. Corinne Haines had lent us her lovely china cups and saucers which were carefully washed by helpers Margaret Yorke and Gwyneth Taylor.

A koha was asked for, with funds to go to the City Mission and everyone responded generously.
