Over Easter, SBYG (St Barnabas Youth Group) had the awesome opportunity to attend Southern Easter Camp. This year we were really fortunate to have 26 rangatahi, 7 leaders & 2 camp parents attend. With having four nights in tents, we were super lucky to have incredible weather, which helped us to make the most of all the amazing worship and fellowship opportunities.
The community vibe across all of the youth groups from the Diocese was really awesome and strong this year and created awesome opportunities for connection, including creating our own volleyball tournament, and growing the SBYG tradition of Sunday Morning pancakes to include all youth groups in the diocese (which meant a long morning of over 20 batches of pancakes being made!!) Another big highlight from many of the youth was the Big Top sessions, which is a bit like a church service, and a party combined into one! At the end of every day right before bedtime, we ran night prayer out of the Prayer Book in our marquee, with not only our group and other youth groups from the diocese but also members of youth groups from other denominations coming along to join us!
Leaders & youth left camp with so many fun filled memories (which some of the photos really help to showcase!). It was really encouraging and inspiring to see the journey that SBYG went on over Easter Camp. SBYG really connected with each other in which connections were made and friendships were grown.
“It was a privilege to serve at Easter Camp this year, amongst an amazing group of young people. Their faith and enthusiasm is super inspiring, and I can’t wait to see how they apply their EC experience to their everyday lives moving forward” – Ainsleigh Fitch, Youth Leader
I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped support SBYG in getting to Easter Camp this year. Whether you prayed for us leading up to/throughout camp, helped us financially or by buying something from our bake sale, every little bit helps us to create an amazing experience, filled with growth, opportunities, laughter and community for our rangatahi. Which is hopefully something we can keep continuing in the years to come!!
