The Crafternoon became a production line for making fabric bags for the Christchurch City Mission, with 31 bags made!

A busy little group spent three hours on Sunday afternoon putting together 31 fabric bags for the City Mission. Instead of gift wrapping all the gifts, the Christchurch City Mission fill the bags with gifts for the children. The bags are the same size as a pillowcase, so it has a double purpose. They put the call out around Christchurch for people to make up the fabric bags. It is such a great idea, and is a fun activity when you get a group together to make them up. It means that you don’t have to be a sew-er. Some were on the cutting out, one on the ironing, some on pinning and two on the machines. Others came along and did their own crafts, some more Christmas cards were made, some knitting, and someone was putting together a kit-set barge!

It was a fun and enjoyable afternoon, and it is lovely to see everyone helping one another and chatting and getting to know each other better. And thanks to Maggie for the lovely afternoon tea cake!

The next crafternoon will be on Sunday February 2nd 2025 @ 12.30pm-3.30pm. Do come along and join in. Please contact Maggie Paton 022 010 2251 for more Information.
