What a team!

A warm thank you to our Sanctuary Guild who look after our Brass, Flowers, Linen and Silver at St Barnabas!

The Sanctuary Guild held their AGM this week, with reports from the leaders of each section: Brass (Pam Stewart), Flowers (Carol Stewart), Silver (Ann Masters), all held together by Sacristan, Cathy Chandler, who also reported on our Church Linen. We are thankful to those concluding their ministries at this time for their service: Christine Philpott (Linen & Brass), Wendy Hollyer (Flowers), Diane Brooker-Newton (Silver), Olivia Page (Brass), Gavin Kingsley (lifestreams linen) and also to Greg Brown for his assistance as Verger.

If you are wondering what these groups do, our Brass and Silver cleaners keep our brass spick & span, and our Silver shining. The Silver team also set up our Communion vessels ready for Sunday. Linen involves washing & ironing our white Communion linen and altar cloths, and changing the altar frontals to reflect the colours of the church year. But for those adept with a needle, we also sew new linen as some of ours wears out, and decorate it with embroidery. Our Flower team offer beautiful arrangements to enhance our worship, as well as being available for special wedding and funeral arrangements as requested. If you would like to learn about or ‘have a go’ at any of these ministries, we have people who’d love to share their skills and experience with you, and have you along as an apprentice. Speak with Marion at the church office and she’ll direct you to the team leaders.
