Are you looking for an afternoon of fun, fellowship, sights, and awesome afternoon teas?
Last Wednesday we had our first Van Outing of the year, which was a tour through New Brighton.
We began with a drive through parts of the Red Zone to check out some of the new things happening there. The beautiful weather meant a stop off at the beach for some fresh sea air and to enjoy the glorious sunshine was a must.
We then headed to Ten27 Café in Ferrymead for a delightful afternoon tea. I can recommend John’s mum’s fudge!
This café just happened to be right next door to a lovely homewares shop, which a few of us had a wee wander through.
This was Barbara’s first van trip and she said it was nice to see parts of Christchurch she wouldn’t normally see as well as enjoying afternoon tea together. Both Diana and Lois agreed.
Wayne loved getting out with other people, having something to eat, and visiting the sights. while Margaret especially enjoyed the cheeky driver.
Madeleine, who used to be the hostess prior to me (Jo), said she liked it because she knew that she wasn’t going to get lost!
About Van Trips
Van trips are held once a month on a Wednesday with around 8-10 people. We leave St Barnabas at 1.30pm and are usually back around 4-4.30pm.
We enjoy trips to various locations in and around Christchurch and to some closer parts of Canterbury and always finish with a nice afternoon tea somewhere. It is a great afternoon of fun and fellowship and getting around to see some of the sights that you may not otherwise get to see by yourself (and it is always more fun when you are with others!). There is always laughter, interesting things to see or hear about and the afternoon teas are always topnotch!
If you would like to enjoy a fun afternoon out and about exploring Christchurch and you enjoy lovely afternoon teas, then come and join us. The only requirements are that you are able enough to get in and out of the van, you have a valid vaccine pass and a mask.
The next Van outing will be on Wednesday 9th March 1.30pm to Lyttelton. Cost is $5 and you can book your place at the church office. We hope to see you there!
