Youth

SBYG on Friday Nights

Each Friday night during the term our youth groups get together for a feed, some good times, deep and meaningful conversations and some good ol' fashioned he karakia e te pō.

We run two youth programs every Friday.
Intermediate youth  6-8pm
High school youth 7:30-9:30

Both groups share supper together from 7:30-8

We love camps!

Every year we take our youth group to at least three camps, One in summer that we run ourselves, one over the Easter weekend joining thousands of other youth, and one in the third school holidays joining with other Anglican youth from the Christchurch diocese. Camps are an awesome time of deepening both our faith and our friendships within the group.

Check out a few pics from our recent camps:

SBYG on Sunday Mornings

On Sundays during our 10 am 'Lifestreams' we have 'The Revs' – a great chance for young people to get together and dig deeper into the Bible and ask the hard questions. Open to all young people between school years 7-11.

Feel free to drop by or, for further information, contact our Younger Persons Worker Phil on 022 032 3663 or phil@stbarnabas.org.nz.

Leadership Development

At SBYG we believe young people are awesome and we want to see them flourish to the best of their God given ability! Part of seeing young people flourish is encouraging, equipping, and investing in those who show particular leadership potential.

Currently we have three young people who are involved with 'The Kiln,' a leadership development initiative hosted by the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch. For the past three years we have taken a small group of young people to 'The Abbey' which is a conference hosted by te Hahi Mihinare ki Aotearoa ki Niu Tireni, ki Nga Moutere o te Moana Nui a Kiwa. We also invest heavily in mentoring and run two leadership development retreats a year for our youth leadership team and young leaders. On top of all this we occasionally seek out additional opportunities for our young people to gain further valuable leadership formation and experience.
